Browse the content of the threads in new Window  Thread: Midrange driver suggestions in Horn-Loaded Speakers  34 Replies
Operating a driver in an open baffle will cause front-to-back sound wave cancellation, aka the acoustical short circuit. In addition to this, a plane board baffle offers zero air load to the drivers cone. This is not good. That's why it sounded like ...

[quote user="noviygera"]There seems to be a lack of useful feedback on the actual sound quality of these oddball, relatively rare TAD mids. So I think it would be helpful to share some basic observations I gather after listening to them for a couple ...

[quote user="Romy the Cat"]fiogf49gjkf0dWell, that is kind of the end of the little midbass era. As we begin to prepare the moving in a month I removed the Vitavox driver from Midbass horns. The even went unnoticed in my family but I have a lot in ...

[quote user="Paul S"]Scott, is it your specific aim to configure an enclosure to "effectively" lower driver Fs? While this, along with an exponential increase in power, is a proven strategy for generating ULF, it seems like this approach creates more...

Hi Paul,I'm really not sure how else to explain it, but essentially it is "free air". The driver does not become influenced by a defined amount of "trapped air" in an enclosure, thus, it pretty much maintains it's free air specs. In my case, the driv...
