Recently Macondo was altered and converted into… nope, not into a Super Macondo :-) but in a “Larger Macondo”. The Super Macondo it will be when I resolved how to implement time delays along with a low pass flirter at midbass horn, that would enable ...

This report is on a new pair of Marantz MA-9S2s, following up on the relevant post in the "Powerful Amplifiers" thread. I installed the amps in my usual stereo set-up, to make it easier to draw a bead on them. I still have less than 100 hours on th...

Hm, it is complicated. In context of ported enclosure (or passive radiator) it is imposable to talk seriously about the box resonance as a speaker/driver has no own sound but rather a summation of zillion resonances, aftersounds and the rest dirt tha...

[quote user="noviygera"]There seems to be a lack of useful feedback on the actual sound quality of these oddball, relatively rare TAD mids. So I think it would be helpful to share some basic observations I gather after listening to them for a couple ...

Hm, I like the Cessaro thinking a few years back and I love it now. A very good move with this “Liszt” loudspeakers, even I am against the idiotic tendency to grand to the audio element the composers names. Take a look what Cessaro did. A tweeter, p...

I'm of the opinion that listening room aesthetics play a big role in enjoying music at home. This is self-evident, but over the many years playing with audio, my listening room has become incrementally cluttered with "audio detritus". It's ugly and...

With that big horn covering such large frequency range I feel there would have a hole in the mid-range, or in the upper-bass. Not that I am supposing the information is not there, but it should not to be in there with reasonable "quality".I had not i...

In my first design, I kept them all in a vertical line. It had one channel less back then. When I added the 1" throat JMLC 1000, I decided, as the tweeter operates over 9.6k, the slight misalignment may not matter. Still, I kept vary and kept the fra...

I see, what they did – the built a perfect sealed chimney with two fans to suck cold air in and two fans to suck hot air out. Well, it might work, even though I do like this idea. I absolutely do not see why such a hot and large tube as 6C33C sha...

Romy:Thank you for your response. You are correct that the vision is not completely developed for this 4 way. A bit more info is needed. I've had some experience with JBL woofers, but am relying heavily on the results achieved...

I never seen the polyethylene drivers but I would not say that it would be a joke, I would rather say that I have no idea what to expect. The SL600 MF driver is a polyethylene-like driver and it does have some interesting qualities, Sure it you drive...

First question:
With the 1.5 gallon rear chamber, the resonance is 700Hz With the basket sealed by tape (very small rear chamber), the resonance is 49Hz Assuming there was not a typographical error, from this we can conclude: 1) Larger...

Johan, I understand what you are saying. This is kind of James’ barn thread and if you do not mind can you share with him one thing, I think that many others, including me, would be interested to learn the answer to this question: What did you gain g...

To save people from researching the differences between Romy's and my systems, I'll note the principal differences here, ignoring our ongoing mid-bass projects, which will be different, but both are incomplete, so not yet in the picture. As concerns t...

Got the ultra low DCR toroids coil and pit them in use. Yes, it was very right move and they a bit trimmed the midbass tail. Playing with inductance and listening how the midbass decays (measurements are worthless in this case) I ended up with 4.8mH ...

Yes, of course, I was using 20Hz as some reference only. It's Fs of the ScanSpeak. Tannoy is the only active speaker so all power comes (or not) from it. From your experience with Reds, where does its reasonable output end?

Edgar, very very nice observations re the phase! Can you somehow share the movie? Shouldn't there be a second phase jump around Fs of the passive radiator?
Have you tried combining sealed subs running parallel with Dannoys? I.e. ...

You will find a very basic motto or life theme here that keeps recurring:Random efforts produce random results! In relation to audio, this means that buying somebody elses best of everything does not lead to a personal superior result.Basically proces...

Thanks Romy,I was hoping to hear that you remain happy with your midbass solution and was surprised at the time about the small cabinets that you used for the Vitavox 15"ers, but having measured T/S parameters of the drivers here I can see that indee...

Hey Romy... you could be right about the ALE's.. I certainly did like them, but when I went back to that familiar recording it was definitely shelved down low.. it would be easy to assume that I thought that they were "lightweight" because I had...
