one itsy bitsy clarification
the quote should read: "he that knows the tao, doesn't say. he that says, doesn't know"
what i wrote was a paraphrase. but the original does better justice to the intent of the post.

Feline's consciousness....

I do not think that we deal with understanding here but rather with something else. Yes, an expressed thought is fallacious by it nature, so is the understanding the messages of subconscious (here is where Cats are more superior then humans). Interesting that the most capable playback installations do take it in calculation as those best playbacks introduce a … let call it “the  filter”…. that reduces “resolution” of the playback at consciousness level and open up the playback to deeper subconscious perception. This self-inflicted diffusion and voluntary weakling of the playback “resolution”. A navigation the playback to a very targeted direction is one of the first signs that I recognize in a person’s  as their beginning of understand what Audio might be all about,,,,,

How did you come to find out what audio was all about?

it doesn't seem like one of those self obvious things to the casual.

Repeatability is a key difference for music and SOUND
I think that there is a HUGE difference between listening to a recording for the first time, or a second, fifth or hundredth time. A live performance or recording for the first time is full of surprises - that disappear when repeating. The recording speaks to different mechanisms and produces a different result.

Changes With Consistency as a Backdrop
True enough, Robin. I count on being able to "find my way back" when I make changes to my system in order to "listen differently" to more or less familiar pieces, what I like to call "mining" the Music. For me, when listening to LPs, this begins with repeatable VTA. I generally agree with Romy's idea that we demand more or less "the same things" from recorded music that we do from live music, albeit the experiences are not presented in the same way.

Best regards,
Paul S
