The answer is: the beautiful Kirsten Flagstad singes Wagner.
I have to admit that I am not completely in peace with complete Wagner operas but I have dozens of Flagstad records and I LOVE to listen her. Sometime I do it for days. Those Wagnerian sopranos are very different animals from other annoying sopranos and Kirsten Flagstad sits at unreachable pedestal among them. Did you notice that Wagner music is more interesting when Kirsten Flagstad is singing?
