I have a friend who works as an engineer with one of the top two UK producers. I recently visited him and he played me some of the atrocities they had recently been responsible for! He and the producer know perfectly well what the record companies now want and know how to create it. He also said that very few of the artists knew how to get involved in the production process or really even took an interest. One that did, who even insisted on working with Pro-Tools herself was Bjork. She apparently had a very clear idea of the sounds and effects she wanted and knew how to use the equipment to get there. She also did seem to have some control over how the end result would sound.Rerurn to Romy the Cat's Site
