I tried non-symmetric crossovers (freq and slopes different for channels) but had to go back to symmetric because the phase response sounded very wrong to my ears. I learned that I could get used to a bad frequency response but I could not get used to a non-linear phase response.
I think the crossover you are proposing will introduce this "step" in the phase response.
Is there anything bad about using a tubed bass trap in your room?
