I just came back from Stereophile Show in NYC.  A couple of observations.

Haniwa's FPIC-100 DSP seems to be nothing but a typical DSP with digital crossover/equalizer/delay with auto feedback through a microphone set at the listening position.  I'm not sure (I forgot to ask) if it's employed as an active crossover for muti-amplification as a premise or as a speaker level crossover.  From their literature, it seems it's with pre-amp (as an active crossover), but no mentioning of multi amping there.

Another speaker (below, I forgot the brand name) also has a digital crossover at speaker level, so when you play CD, the signal goes through first DA (through DA converter after the transport), then AD at the input of the crossover, then again another DA at the output of the crossover!!!  What the hell's going on!

A new company Loiminchay is the first brand from Mars marketing on Earth (see picture at Stereophile's show report on their site).  Their Mandarin Supreme is a rather dimunitive in size (about 4" height) with 1" compression driver and 12" woofer (they mention another 10" driver, maybe hidden inside the cabinet?).  The $80,000 price tag is justified by the use of rare Mars wood for the cabinet and the transportation cost of FedExing 7,834,000 km in space.  It also comes with an option of digital crossover for the extra $16,000!

Well, I can not refuse myself in pleasure to post a picture (by Gismodo) of the $98K Mandarin Supreme speaker. BTW, how did they sound? BTW, as I understand our friend Lamm was smart and he put his ML3 on silent display in order do not demonstrate “how it might be”. For the $100K for those 2 channels loudspeakers should be in silent display also…

It wasn't a silent display.  I heard some weeny brassy Mars wind and Marsian footsteps coming from them.  I thought of asking to play some Earth material I brought with and realized I forgot them in my car.  Typical of me.

I was telling about Lamm new SET and it highly likely that it was on display only. If Lamm desired to play it then it would be incredibly foolish from my point view and I do not think Vladimir would do this mistake.

Anyhow, Yoshi, really, jokes aside, did you detect anything interesting in that Supreme Citrus Sound?

No.  The only thing I can remember is that it was some unknown material with a trumpet and a bass.  The trumpet coming from the horn and the bass coming from the woofer.  The volume was low, so I can't even tell if the two drivers are discontinuous or if it's the material, let alone the overall performance.  Then, when I saw the price on pamphlet, my brain was suddenly covered by thick fog from astonishment.

I am exactly that guy and I've been through this pricing accusation/disccution for 10 years.  If you want to repeat that, start a new thread.

Although I do not think the price of 47 gears I distribute and Loiminchay are structured the same way, I should not have joked about it, especially considering all the accusations I received in the past years.  Still, if you'd like to talk about it, I'm happy to contribute.

considering all the noise around your products but I agree with Roman (it took a little time) that audio should be priced based on performance,  so if your gear performs you're free to price it accordingly . On the subject ,the speaker does look like a alien from Mars seen in old movies (good call) .Regards,
Wojtek
