Roomy,I have read the posts from two years ago on your multi-cell horns. What was the final verdict? I don't see them for sale so I assume you've kept them. I'm curious where you stand on using 18 cell horns as the main midrange source.

Jeff, I am truly is not in position to pass any final verdicts. My multi-cell is sitting in my Opera room loaded with Vitavox S2 and serving as replacement of HF channel in my Cetla 91 system that I use for movies primary and sometimes for unimportant music during my fireplace sessions. As far as I concern the multi-cells do fine, orders of magnetite better then the crap that Altec 19 come with. Still, I drive them with shit, I crossover them way too high and to do go into lower dangers territory and frankly speaking I am not so critical or demanding of what they do. The whole parley into buying the Altec 19 was that it looks sexy (at least to me) in my Opera Room and I feel that with multi-cells it looks even better. So, my take on the subject is very superficial.

To use 18 cell horns as the main midrange source? I do not see why not if the horn loaded sensibly (many people cross them too low) and listening distance is relatively high (I would say more than 15 feet), my view the multi-cells are fine for larger spaces.

You have probably seen this system on the net:

The system is obviously not optimized but it is a very cool looking system none the less. I also like the visual appearance of your multicells on the Altecs. My listening position is 16 feet from the horns, so these might be a perfect solution.
