Are these restek.de satellite tuners any good?  I am wondering if I should update my fm tuner or if it is waste of money if we will be listening to satellite or internet based radio only in next few years. I like the idea of getting german live broadcasts on the satellite if quality is good?

I do not know what the satellite radio in Europe, I know that you have a different system in there but in US satellite radio in my view has no bases to talk about better or worse tuners. This is digitally compressed signal, so what is the difference….

Hi,
Yes i don't understand all this, but they transmit concerts live over internet here with rate up to 192Kbps and quality is very good. With the satellite we can have AAC+ live broadcasts at high sample rate which i am wondering about quality as i do not know anyone that has the satellite tuner yet. It makes me think of the accuphase tuner that converts the fm signal and outputs digital as i can send the satellite signal to my dac directly.
I will try to find place to audition who knows maybe it is wrong idea that i have.

I haven't heard the Restek, but upsampling could be a true advantage for satellite audio. The jitter problem probably isn't small for a digital signal transmitted over a large distance and the softening of such devices could be an advantage for MPEG compressed audio.
