YOu know, when I first read Fremer's reply to Art Salvatore, on his website, I honestly had a hard time believing anyone could be so venomous. See http://www.high-endaudio.com/RR-FREMER-A.htmland alsohttp://www.high-endaudio.com/RR-FREMER.htmlfor sim...

I agree completely drdna. I think the current editor of Stereophile is setting the tone...he is known to be an opportunist...in fact if you read some of Peter Aczel's criticisms of him in the past, he, along with pearson & others, are the ultimat...

Michael Fremer has been called a very unpleasant personality. Seeing this post of his, I can see why. Of course he is playing a con game, just like all of Stereophile is. There is no doubt about that. Anyone who embraces analog over digital has got b...

Even though you asked Romy, let me add my informaton. B&C makes very good drivers, but they will run you more than $1000.
Good luck with the frequency response in your new experiment, though I have no doubt you will get great dynamics.

Let me list for you what I think drives sound quality to me:1. In room flat response at the listening positions2. equal decay at al lfrequencies off axis3. Adequate delay between direct & first order reflections. 4. Lack of distortion, or suitabl...

SO you are saynig you have meaured the horn system in question and it is truly flat?I would be interested to hear your measurement procedure. I dont think ROmy actually did any design, he just bought components and put them together. Did he actually ...

It's dead. Nobody cares about sound anymore. Esp. not about passive listening. The few music lovers left there, are usually immune to their systems, and lack the knowledge to build their own. Most high end audio is a fraud anyway. I agree with Earl c...

Absolutely right! All ready made speakers sound bad, unless by sheer luck you get one that matches your surroundings. THat's why I listen to my home made ones, or my late 1970's klipschorns (which are not perfect but great, nevertheless). ML...

HI,Music is meant to create a feeling. Who is to say your feeling is better than my feeling. It;s all about sensitivity to feeling and the creation of emotion. If a sound (or a set of sounds) can create that emotion & feeling in you, then your go...

Romy, I understand you are saying that a midrange horn rated flat to 300HZ should really be crossed at 600 or 1200 HZ. That claim doesn't make sense to me, esp. with a 24 db or higher crossover (active). Unless you are saying that hor...

HI Everyone,My first post here! I recently subscribed to the back issues of the audio critic. Very nice! I appreciate Peter Aczel's support of the consumer. However, his writers claim vinyl is hopelessly behind digital, and that tube amplifiers are h...
