FWIW, I had one of the original PP2000 units (made in Taiwan back in those days?). It certainly changed the sound - it seemed to add some 'sparkle' somehow. But I had an interesting experience with it...
I wanted to hear how thin...

Great points.I'll just reiterate that I heard the Avatons on Friday and was underwhelmed. Heard them again on Saturday, and heard some real magic... with certain tracks. At this level, this sort of inconsistency obviously needs to be ironed out.Hopef...
Take it for granted, it was there! Totally colored. Not acceptable. Many had this similar surprisingly. Others confirmed the same later. No coincidence.
Ahem... so was I... and in the Tune Audio room for a much longer...

In case there's any confusion, it was the Avatons in Munich (and not the Animas). I took a good listen to them on Friday, and wasn't overly impressed. I spent a long time there yesterday though and thought they sounded better than anything else I'd h...

Hi Anthony, I can't offer anything of any value on the technical side, but wanted to comment on your CAD renderings. To my eyes, the cannon design looks truly stunning. There's an elegance to it that's really appealing. In comparison, the box design ...
Please share more information about your PC.
Amir, I have two PCs for purely audio purposes - one for my main listening room and one for my home office. The former was built commercially by Phasure (http://www.phasure.com/in...
do you use microrendu?
Hi Amir, yes I use a microRendu in my office system - it replaced the NAA I spoke about in the old post that you quoted. I think I'm one of the very few owners who hasn't been drawn in by the hyperbole...

Hi miab, my room is approx. 6x5x4m, so although quite small by North American standards (not UK!), the ceiling is higher than that of most modern houses. This seems to play a big part in the LF performance of any speakers in this room. I currently ha...

I took receipt of my new Anima speakers yesterday.Aesthetically, they match my listening room very well. Early days, but sonically, driven by my 211 mono amps with Elrog output tubes, they easily better any other speaker I've had in this room. It's f...

I hope Thomas David brings you as much joy as my two young sons have brought me. But hopefully he'll not do what mine do whenever I listen to music: "Not classical daddy, we want pop."Mani....
But now I am stuck thinking that if the DSP/LF amps curves are aimed at 19 Hz, and 19 Hz is limited to 88 dB, then an equalized output might also be limited to 88 dB before clipping and/or "unacceptable distortion" from the LF co...

Paul, one of the reasons I went for the Orelo was because it's as close to "plug 'n' play" as I can imagine a speaker system being. So I'm not very knowledgeable about its detailed workings. What I do know is this though...There are 3x 15" bass drive...
|
Well, I have just taken receipt of my Orelo speakers (pic attached) - the bigger version of the Orelino speakers, with 3x 15" bass drivers per channel as opposed to 3x 12" drivers.I realize that Romy doesn't regard the coaxial BMS mid/high compressio...

Romy, you have a way with words.I can't remember when I attended the Munich show, I think it was 4 years ago. Interestingly, my thoughts back then pretty much echoed what has been said in this thread - what has happened to high end audio these last f...
We routinely operate our 230 volt models with two phase +/- 120 volt input.
That's interesting. I use a couple of 5KVA balanced transformers. I tried to feed my 240V PP2000 with one of them, but the output was non-symm...
Any updates from users/sufferers on the "new", lighter/cheaper-to-ship APS stuff? Mani?
No, not from my end. I've kind of given up on 'upgrading' to a PP+. I've gone around in circles with my current PP2000, sometimes lik...
I'm happy to compare the new PP+3000 to my old PP2000 and share my findings.
So, the PP+3000 arrived... and went pretty much straight back.As soon as I switched the battery pack on, it started hissing and emitting a G...

Hi Jorge.Firstly, be very careful if you're thinking about feeding a PP with a balanced AC input. It may be different with the North American PP units, but my UK unit did not like being fed by a balanced AC input. My balanced transformers already ten...

Paul, I'm happy to compare the new PP+3000 to my old PP2000 and share my findings. The new unit has arrived in the UK from Canada and should be at my place this Friday. It's true, I didn't particularly like the sound of the PP2000 running from its reg...

Hi Currawong, thanks for sharing your experiences. My own computer playback journey goes back some 9-10 years ago when I started using a MOTU 896HD to interface a PC to my then Esoteric D70 DAC. And in the passing time the one thing I've learned about...
From what you describe I conclude that you have ground loops regardless of the PPs and the PP juts highlights the problem.
This may well be the case. I can't even remember the exact components I was using last year (...
You claim that it was “everything plugged” syndrome but I was writing about it years back and I thought that it was what you were doing. Even if you did not then in my view the superbly positive contribution of PP was still...

About this time last year I decided to stop using my PP2000. It has been sitting in my basement gathering dust all this time. I even put it up for sale last year but only received stupid offers for it, so decided to keep it.I've been having problems ...
