I think I misunderstood what you meant by circumference force.
What I was thinking of is the frictional force exerted on the needle by the groove moving relative to it.
The needle experience no centripetal or centrifugal force since it is not rota...

Your circumference force is right, but when viewed from above it work clocwise around the lateral bearing of the arm, therefore the arm wil tend to move inwards :-)...

Hi all, I have a t350 horn that I recently got out of an old cabinet at a junk shop which does not work. If I connect it to my Marantz 1030 amp it will only play very faintly as if you are listening to cheap earphones laying on...

I you play the video full screen and place the cursor at the top or the bottom edge of the platter, it seems clear that the the platter wobbles since they go up and down synchronously and the upper edge of the turntable chassis is not moving at all....

Oh dear, whilst I am not perturbed by the rather disparaging review of the Sugden Headmaster, I am rather disappointed that such a learned reviewer has not been able to emulate the finer points of reviews contained within the English press. Undoubtedl...

I have actually tried to roughen the surface of a glossy horn, witch did increase the horn size, and the effect was similar to painting it with a grainy paint, therefore I am sceptical your proposal that the heard effect was due to the dimmension...

Hi rowuk.Shark skin decreases the formation of vortexes in fluid flows over surfaces and thereby reduces drag.Shark skin resembles fine sand paper and has actually been used as such.Of cource there is a difference between a stady flow around a shark ...

" Every comment about the sound of any device has a deeper reason and it can be great fun to try some of this stuff out instead of just believing it.I personally believe if a absorptive surface is on the inside of the horn, the pressures in the devic...

"Then there are flutter echo like bathroom sounds that horns also sometime produce, especially if they have a glossy surface."What I meant was that the glossy surface causes a effect that is like or resembles the hard fluttery sound...

Horns are of course some kind of band pass filters with different kind of ripples at lover cutoff and beaming at upper cut off, according to horn type.
Maybe it should be added ...

It is difficult to say below what frequency there is no sound registered, the lowest fundamental on a double bass is 41Hz and the A0 on a grand piano is 27Hz, both these fundamentals and at least one harmonic thereof would probably be recognizab...

It seem that the concensus here is that there is no tone in the ULF range, something like below 50Hz.This is probably not true for live acoustical instruments.Physical systems that can be described by non linear differential equations, are known to p...

Hi, I have spoken to a few guys here, who had used the 8 inch version of the Scanspeak woofers for the low frequency channel they agreed about the somewhat rubbery sound of them in the higher range. The solution was quite easy and logical: They remove...

Did you ever have a walk in fresh powder snow in the countryside? The zillions of crystals of water are doing a perfect job of damping noise - at least in the audible spectrum. Even big cities like the one i am living in are turning very quiet. One e...
