I'm pathetically slow with my 834 clone, but that's what I am....Sorry for boring you but I treat this threat a bit like a blog on my "progress".I've tried to fight more with PS induced ham and interferenceby putting the PS transformers and HV rectif...

Paul, the spikes are digital data processing artefacts, no problem with them. What would be interesting to explain is the waivyness. Is it the test record or the deck (or both)?...
|
This is a new tool, so some training is inevitable. Yes, I saw your first sample with the peaks and my first thought was that it was not the deck, as I could not imagine a mechanism which would produce such spikes so perfectly repetetive (ok, maybe a...

So as an example let me present here Paul's analysis of my EMT930 (all the credits go to Paul R).
The objective of this particalr run was to test an apparent audiopedophile(tm) legend that a 78rpmwarmup or preforming of an idler deck helps to smooth...
I have no idea why you are surprised that I submitted my test. Anyhow, I do not know what to look at and how to interpret what I see when I analyze the result of this test. The feedback that Paul R forwarded to me did inter...
AFAIR, what was missing for comparison are "portraits" of serious belt TT's. Anyone want to recorda test signal with his big belt TT and put it up in the thread for analysis (beware: it can do more harm to your ego than a timeline...

Hi Paul! I'm sorry but I simply can't make any sense of what you are asking....Anyway, all the software has been designed by Paul R, I had no contribution here(Paul has contacted me asking for sampel of my EMT when the soft was already done)and is ba...

Actualy I was going to point into that thread where I was partially involved providing (i'm phixphi there) my EMT930 test signals for analysis but was a bit shy to do it. One of my "big" hopes is that perhaps Paul's softwould allow to capture some ob...

Steverino, this is not the point who responded to whom and how.The point is that in your particular example: a balun (HF isolation tranny)placed after a (presumably) digital power oscillator the explanation of bettersonics might perhaps be reliably t...
This goes back to the discussion a few weeks ago of what these components' power supplies are "expecting" to see. They were built and tested with certain kinds of AC waveforms as input. If you give it something it was never te...

Paul, so far the interconnect shields were connected to the phono pre grounding bolt only--I do not want to pass any equalizing currents between the TT and the phono via the shields (the TT chassis, armtube, etc was connected to the same place via a ...

IIRC, 6k was when you feed both channels through it, but given the currents maybe it does not matter. The target was 270V on B+ and I got it with two 12k as I wanted to separate the channels after the 0A2, just like you say. Cheers,nset...

Thanks for your thoughts Paul. The subject of the snubber has already been quite discussed.IIRC Romy has turned the whole idea down as uncessary in his context. I am afraid thata snubber may be a sonic move rather than only "engeneering". I'll first ...
N-set, can you explain what you are saying? What kind ringing are you implying? Are you taking about mechanical ringing of the wire or about the after pulse ringing?
I referr to the after pulse ringing. The parasiti...
N-set, I don't know much about the theory, but maybe you have focused on "uniform ground potential" while neglecting the effects of EMF? (Not to mention the EXTREME difficuty of maintaining a "single", non-reactive "ground path"...

I'm wondering what is left for those on a cartridge unfortunate market...An agressive needle, a contrast to a somehwat "romantic" TSD15 spherial......

I'm wondering if the current 901mkII holds the candle? (...which would be against the industry practice, but...)It can be gotten for $1500 in some japanese online shops, but there does not seem to be much feedback around.Cheers,N-set...
N-set, I am confused by this/your most recent post. If you are saying you have discovered a "quiet condition" along with the desired curve and gain, then you are done, no? If it works, it works; good for you; be thankful; leave...

Paul, after a month of vacations I've tried you advice:
If you can do it, try isolating both cases/chasses from your "ground plane(s)". Use one inclusive "ground plane" for both the PS and the gain/RIAA sections, and ground this "...
