It is obvious that 6SN7-2A3 and 6E6P direct have very different character. The 2A3 it feels like heavy-sunk time of tube and it constantly run a fully submerged. It has seriousness but it does not look at this point that i...
I asked many times of my desire to have the final sparkle in the mid of this PP2000 softness is some kind of audiophile itch. I do not think so and I feel that the performance of my MF channel in context of the “different” ...

Hello Paul,
When I need to repair an old speaker, I always try Orange County Speakers (http://www.speakerrepair.com/) or Simply Speakers (http://www.simplyspeakers.com). They are very good at sourcing old speaker parts and repairing tweeters, etc...
In meanwhile, if anyone has any proposal what tube to try in the Sun Audio audio kit’s output stage then let me know.
You want a suggestion for a good 2A3? Get Ricardo Kron's (KR Audio Enterprises) KR 2A3. Very rug...
In the end I feel that the PP2000’s softness/politeness is not a liability but opportunity. I certainly not willing to go back to the softness/politeness lacking type of sound and I would like to make my playback to be able...

I have never liked power conditioners. They change the sound, but not necessarily for the better, much like playing around with the tint and contrast knobs on the TV.
So I was intrigued after hearing the glowing praise by Romy, who never gives out...
Today spending many hours with my new regenerator and listening music I could not hold myself laughing as many times I caught myself acknowledging that this or that aspect of sound was exactly how I always insisted it shell...

I am happy to have this here. I hope our members will take advantage of this and fill it up with information. I certainly will note any surprising observations I have with EAR 834 if I modify it.
It seems more like a general catalog of elements,...
Adrian, I wonder how you wound up with the never-mentioned FET 10? I prefer it to the EAR 834 I heard. Is this another case where it's full of old caps? I would not be at all surprised if futzing with those caps might yield as ...
I usually hesitant to give any recommendations for “improvement” if a request does not contain any defined and specific complain about the current results.
Naturally, this makes sense. My question was actually specif...
Even in stock version (but with OK tubes) I found it demonstrate some interesting qualities.
So you do not recommend the stock tubes? Is it a specific change you recommend?

This is always good advice, to get to know the character of the phono stage. Because my favorite cartridges are not low voltage (I use Decca London Jubilee and Reference) I have never had a need for the ET SU-1 step up unit. In fact, I had this in my...

I recently could not pass up a good deal on a EAR 834P MM, so I will have the opportunity to compare it to my current phono stage. It is funny since I had planned to listen to EAR phono stage in my system about 10-15 years ago when I lived in Santa M...
did anybody pay attention that all coupling transformers-loaded amplifiers (among those that I heard) sound in a similar way as the amps with high voltage output tube that run over 1KV on plate. Did you ever think why?[/quo...
I finished Joseph Flavius and don't want another Jews war here - so please - tone down my friend
Yes, be careful, Romy, or you may have to ban yourself. :D
Adrian, as a purely practical observation, I just re-read your examples of the format you suggest, and I have to say I would need a good deal more information than that before I could figure out enough of what was going on with t...

Well, it seems no matter how hard I try, I am never able to get anyone to think outside the box here. Sort of frustrating.
For instance the gold plated metal film Holco resistors a few year back were very good and then the q...
I don't think the above file system would be adequate. I have built a few amps, have notes, and many pages of such information from a friend who's built many hundreds, over many years, and will tell you off the top o...

I am inclined to think it has more to do with the dynamic impact of sound through space and pressing against your body, instead of just your ears. I have always felt Stravinsky to be a very physical experience.
And I do like the mono recordings...

I began to research live broadcasts in my area, and I found there is one station that broadcasts live every Saturday morning some local folk music, readings, sort of variety show, from a local club I have actually been to in Berkeley. I had no idea. ...
here is the LIVE recording from today via TU-X1. Purely abstractly, what– what specific character of sound you would like to modify of improved?
Of course it is NOT being compared to playing directly through the TU-X...
Well, I thought there was a lot of this going on all along, but that we just haven't come up with much that is "universal"
Yes, my thought is that there is NOTHING universal, but that these choices must be observed in CON...
Designers like Kondo San spend many hundred hours "voicing" their Amplifiers, allowing a blending of a variety of colorations together in such a way that the overall sonic impact is quite small. For many others (amateur or prof...

After seeing the variation in the sound of the TU-X1 to the quality of electricity, and thinking about recent discussions about the Direct Heated Triode, I would like to start a compendium of anecdotal observations of the idiosyncratic nature of comp...

I sent Mr Chow an e-mail, but have received no reply yet. However, the interesting thing is that tonight the music on the local classical channel was fantastic. Maybe the electricity was particularly good today? I think I am still very much in the ...
My attitude with my main TU-X1 is “do not harm” as I pretty much have no complains of frustration to it’s sound and I would be pity to loose what I have now from this tuner. I have some people told me about specific mods bu...

I hope they explain the randomness and how it can be incorporated into power conditioners.
This may also be a factor in the "randomness" capability, which is really only freedom of movement, and not "randomness", per se.
OK, is it “randomness” of “freedom of movement”, the questi...
I see more interest not in the wondering of why we make choices but rather in the questing what choices might be made in order to accomplish this or that effect.
It is true that conjecture can be a false path withou...
