Measure the ceramic ball that is in the bearing and order the closest size avaiulable. I believe it was 0.25" but it has been a while since I rebuilt my bearing.Jam...

I would use a trurbine oil like Zoom Spout and get the bearings from Boca Bearingshttps://www.amazon.com/Original-All-Purpose-Turbine-Telescoping-Spout-GuruShop/dp/B09MDJPKV5 https://www.bocabearings.com/products/bearing-and-ball-types/balls/ceramic-...

Richard,My platter spins for about 8 min. I would replace the oil with a light turbine oil and replace the rubber o rings as well.Replace the ceramic ball with a high tolerance silicon nitride piece and flip the thrust plate and all should be wellReg...

Hi Measet,I tried the HS-80 and it worked best with the bearing lubricated with lower viscosity oil (same as I used in the RX-5000) and kevlar string but once set up (which can be a pain) I could not hear much difference. Belt tension made far more d...

You are correct. It is Zoom Spout. There are several oils used for turbines that work well.Once you have done a few it gets easier....still messy though. If you are willing to do it. I will send you the necessary supplies....

The oil I use has a viscosity of about 30-31 and I have used it for years with no problems. I have tried about six different viscosity oils and grease and the best results were with in the range I specified for (sound as well as mechanically), please...

Hi Measet,The original platter for the RX-5000 was gun metal which I replaced with a platter with a similar platter to Wellington's weighing about 50 lbs. , the other table came from Japan with a original stainless platter made by Micro Seiki (rare)...
|
Hi Measet,The oil I would use is Zoomspout, it works great. I have a platter with a similar profile that Wellington has, my second RX-5000 has a stainless platter made by Micro Seiki with the same dimensions as the original gun metal platter.Just fli...

Hi Wellington,I have rebuilt the other table after living with both for several months of comparison. The oil comparisons were done over several months as well, granted the differences in oil viscosity well smaller compared to the other changes. The ...

Wellington,It is my understanding that lead was used because it'a anti an anti-seize properties. The bearing fit is very tight and I suppose this helped with the lubricants of the period and is not a problem with modern synthetics. The bearing does no...

Measet,The bearing oil on the RX-5000 should be replaced with a good low viscosity turbine oil, Zoomspark works well. When opening the bearing you will notice there is a steel thrust plate that will have a dimple on it, you can flip around and use th...

I would agree that the RX-5000 has some advantage to the SX-8000 and I put the differences down to mainly the air bearing and construction of the platter which will cause softness and a lack of focus (some people may like this). To understand the u...

I have to agree with Wellington. To be fair we both use stainless steel platters (heavier than stock) and use CU-180 mats to damp the platter which ensures an almost dead platter, way better than any acrylic, hard rubber and felt mat I have tried. St...

Wellington,In fact I do. That being said on another note I would like to plan a circuit board project for a power supply for any interested members.Thanks.Regards,Jam...

Wellington,I would like to get into contact with you regarding the supply. You can e-mail me at jsomasundram@hotmail.com.Thanks.Regards.Jam...

Hi Wellington and fellow Micro-Seiki fans,I will have to agree with your findings about the CU-180 as well. I have tried a stainless steel mat with similar results.I own two RX-5000's and cant't stress enough the rebuilding of the power supply with n...

Hi again Romy. This is the thread I referred to above. It is in the Knowledge Tree section. What do youdefine as the melody range? You seemed to think the ported enclosure was OK in that thread and I aminterested in how I might implement the idea...

Hi Romy. I recently saw a thread which may have been posted some time back to do with using a reflexbox for mid or upper base. My impression is that you are solidly opposed to using this setup within the rangein which it is normally used but in the...

This may not be the right place. I am always emotionally involved with the music I listen to. Sometimes there is a quality to it that makes tears stream down my face - not matter what gendre of music or whether it is sad or happy. This subject was d...

Nah, not really I think I understood what you meant by real estate I just meant that I did not have large rooms, therefore not much space.I like your vertical array of horns and the line arrayed LF section. That doesn't take too much space. My pro...

Just new to this forum and there is so much to absorb.. One post I read suggested that horns be constructedwith dimensions to suit 1 oct. below the lowest Freq. to be used. I know that Mr. Le Cleache favours this ashe says the group delay is bette...
