But in the Akihabara district, there are still a lot of physical electronics / audio parts shops that DIY people should keep in mind. These shops are generally mom-and-pop sized and may carry junk from China to exotic (expensive) goods. If one has an audio project on deck it might make sense to fly to Tokyo and source a bunch of parts in an afternoon. Navigating this small area is a bit tricky but everything is in walking distance.
