Romy:I learn something new today.Let me ask this then -- when you see multiway horns, where the throats and openings are all over the place, I often see you comment "these people do not know anything about time alignment". I thought it was because yo...

In one point you win, obviously the speaker panels were not really infinite indeed.http://www.thomas-schick.com/Siemens.htmBut when the frequency where the dipole acoustic short circuit "kicks in" is clearly below the Fs of the driver, everything "di...

Hello Romy, thanks for your guide.I've been thinking and I feel that some basic upper bass channel ideas are forming; they a result of, as you say ,"organic" derivation from the rest of my acoustic system. I am pretty excited about this idea i have. ...

A few days back I visited an audio person who demonstrated to me his experiments with extreme lateral deviation of souses. Regardless if I agree or not what he was doing or trying to do the demonstration has an unexpected result. One day I was driv...

Impedance not. Gain yes. I've basically copied Millet's implementation:http://www.pmillett.com/tube_active_crossover.htmand I looked at the plots there. This dip around 370Hz is a mystery, the rest I think now looks ok....well, now when I look at the...

I have not read this book (the wood effect) and if you have shopping link please sent it to me.I am not sure but It seems even amplifier speaker connection is important for sound. In past I have inverted the signal phase in my DAC and also inverted sp...

Please help me if you have any experience with PP3000.
now I have dedicated AC line (the line is three phase system ,phase 1 and 3 connected to home and phase 2 connected to my audio system) and a good cable replaced the building wire between ...
Anotheraxiom was to make it DC coupled so that there is nothing but tubes in the chain.
Of course I was not very precise here: not pictured but a 1:1+1 phase splitting input transformeris inevitable...still I believe it is...

I defy anyone to "hear" the relays in my TVC/attenuator. In any case, who wants to get up to change volume, or balance, or phase, or to mute the system? Does anyone remember that Lamm started out by offering VR meters on his amp, but he deleted them ...

priviet. I tried many ways. I cut the front outside faceplate open, and put a second driver on it. So that two drivers were firing onto each other face to face in one single hornthroat, rest normal single K. To my surprise the output didn't increase ...

This weekend wife told me that I should not do nothing else
but to fix my playback and this was exactly what I wanted to do. Yesterday I took
good 14 hours to play with it, moving boxes, trying to find a good
configuration, making measurements, th...

If one is using multiple in phase drivers, they are spread out over space and help reduce resonance by interference. Another possibility would be a B&W like lightweight matrix enclosure to move resonance UP, where it is more easily damped. A thir...

Maybe this link will work, so others can see the original WAMMs I have been referencing. Yes, they had "phase issues", but - like I've said - I have not since heard better from Wilson.http://www.stereophile.com/taxonomy/term-a/168?page=8Scroll dow...

I would rather to hear from the people who use tweeters over 10K to comment not about the “quality of the tweeters” but about the quality of amplification and the quality of electricity that they use to drive those tweeters. The better tweeter it is ...

Many years back, when I first went to try using more than one set of speakers in the same room, I was told that the "idle" drivers would have a negative aural effect on the drivers being listened to. Naturally, I went ahead and did it anyway.&n...

and tracing the polarity back to your electrical service can prove useful, even more so if you have 3 phase power. I’m sure this has been covered but I’ve been away a while....

Clark, How sad that I didn't know this "nothing" 15 years ago (including yes the effects of polarity and phase), but I'm always the last to know. And how strange that following the logic of this "nothing" (and this thread) has suggested a number of...

Hi George,We did find an email response from Damian to you in early 2010, suggesting that we could think of no technical reason that a PurePower unit would have a problem with +/- 60 volt input. We routinely operate our 230 volt models with two phase...

You have to consider the latency in DSP ULF solutions (regardless of filter settings). It is considerable and if the rest of the system is phase aligned, there may be some problems in location of the ULF drivers.

I've always found on her studio recordings (not as much on the live ones) something strange to PB's voice. Thanks for the info. I've noticed that effect in other artist's recordings, but probably due to the fact that they did it worse, sometimes much...

Hi romy,Have you had a look at the website recently (site address above in marco's mail), they have very detailed discussion of midbass horn with photos of phase-plug etc. unfortunately it may be only in french ...R Weissman...

Two basic premises:A) The concept we all operate on is: a chain of components connected between one another that pick up info from a medium, transform the info into ac and amplify that info; then, we attach speakers to the last of thes...

Romy, i hope this post doesn't offend your sensibilities. I am not gonna say a word about the physics principles that have led me to the conclusion that this is something that should be tried ( unless you ask of course ).
The idea i have is...

Yesterday I spent most of the day to play with my IB, trying
to make it to sound the way how I like. I
pretty much wanted to re-implement on analog level that surprisingly good result
I got with digital crossover. So, I have built my along crosso...

who worked for a while in a FM station. He said that some good quality broadcasting stations have tube bassed compressors and that they process de signal quite a lot. Maybe what we hear coming from the FM is a highly processed signal, which might hav...
Third, in Munich, because of the severely limited amount of time available for setup (and the severely limited space to set up in), Wolf DSP’d the U3s for phase but did not DSP them for time alignment.... In Cali, the U...
I can't find a/the post(s) where you describe the advantages of using a 4 inch throat. Stereo-lab makes both 4 and 8 inch throat 140Hz horns but I don't think they could make an 8 to 4 inch adapter... [...
Even if it is possible with a given (multichannel, faulty design) loudspeaker then the DPLOS become very fragile and appears/appears too sudden, without a gradual improvement while approaching the DPLOS. The keys are phase...

Well, since there's always "something missing" from the lower-mids, I always wonder how to address that without making an unwanted hump or introducing uncontrolable phase issues there...Then, there's the power issue at LF...Got me, Homes.Best re...

Never tried it but R8Brain Pro Minimum Phase seems to show best in the link below. I personally do use foobar but only for the lack of simple dedicated players that output 16/44.1. There's much talk on cPlay but can't get it to work.http://src.infini...
