So, you use DCX 2496 for deals but not for crossovering and your crossovers are still on analog domain, right? Romy, I do everything in the digital domain so I use DCX 2496 as my crossover as well (but analog SS pro amps). I know you're no big fan of...

Well, you see, the outer dimensions of the mouth of cause an indications of low end response and by objective evaluation of it is easy to estimate horn’s bass numbers. However, it is very far from “sufficient” assessment. A few years back I completel...

Yes, the Dresden’s talk about 40Hz horn and 90Hz horn as the similar horns, particularly if he does not want to "cheat", stroked me as odd too. 90Hz horn is a nice a manageable 40” piece of furniture. The 40Hz is the monster in a house and a good rea...

Hi jd*thank you for caring, and encouraging me to wade through all of this horn info. I'm 63 by now, not sure if I'll ever get out of there alive before I'm done though...Romy posted some picture about a commercial horn (Western Electric WE15) th...

Moreart, Since you are soliciting public opinions then I would like to say that I very much do not like what you do. Calculate the area of your horn mouth and you get up to what region you have equalization from horn. Everything else is a regular di...

This is very interesting subject.
I expect that tghe new Midbass horns will have somewhere 108dB sensitively anechoicly. The driver is 99dB and the hyperbolic curve has much more EQ then Tractrix and that is more important the EQ that work mu...

Bruce Edgar room was probably the only rooms at the entire show where form my prospective it was possible to begin to talk about "pure audio", so I will.
Bruce picked and smartly holds at "The Show" a wondefull room, the small room, but fr...

Hi Guy, The Oracle seems like a nice solution - I saw you write up on Peter Empson's forum. They seem compact enough for my requirements. How do you handle time-alignment with the mid-range? Or is this not a problem? To be honest with you I'm not exp...

Ok, “unless something goes terribly wrong” the new Macondo’s midbass horns will be built and I am sure that I will find ways for them to sound properly. As you remember I do not believe in horns for lowers octaves and I do have plan to construct a de...

[quote user="Johan Dreyer"]I call this the "pulsating room effect" Here there is a sensation of the air in the room actually pulsating to the sound. This is not boom but a sense of sheer energy being transmitted.Unlike music simply being played way to...

I would have to believe there were big sonic gains in store before I went through the trouble of designing, building, testing, (and re-building) and integrating giant horns in any house. Romy, as I recall, you already have enough 15" drivers on hand...

Hi Romy and othersI am in the initial stage of planning a new home, which will have a dedicated music room. I noticed Romy in another thread you were impressed with the rough stone walling. This looks like a great way to disperse reflections. What I ...

Do get an RTA, it is amazing how different the frecuencies are from what we imagine, 50 hz is very low! 150 hz is a vital freq, and a lot of female voices have a very nice fullness at 150 hz. It is hard to tell without measuring what is happening ...
